Winter 2012 New Tutor Workshop - Now Registering
The Winter 2012 New Tutor Training Workshop is a three part series that is scheduled for January 21, 28, February 4 and 11 (snow day), 2012 from 9:30 am to 2:45 pm at the Plainfield Public Library located at 800 Park Avenue, Plainfield, NJ. Attendance is required at all three sessions to be certified as a volunteer tutor. This program is open to residents of Union County.
During the workshop you will be trained in tutoring both Basic Reading Skills and English as a Second Language and learn how to work with adult learners. New volunteers will be asked to fill out a preference form indicating which subject they would like to tutor, when they are available and what Union County libraries are convenient for them to meet a student(s).
There is a $40 non refundable registration fee to cover the cost of materials given to you at the workshop. You may pay for registration using PayPal when registering online, or you may mail a check payable to Literacy Volunteers of Union County to 800 Park Avenue, Plainfield, NJ. Need based scholarships to cover the registration fee are available to qualifying individuals and are subject to availability. Click here to register.
