Literacy Volunteers of Union County New Jersey

LV-UC and Scotch Plains Library
Establish Manya S. Ungar Adult Literacy Collection

December 20, 2004

This past year Literacy Volunteers lost a very dear friend in Manya Ungar. Manya, who passed away in May, 2004, was a tutor, board member and phenomenal friend to literacy. We know that Manya is missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Manya touched the lives of her students who are better English speakers because of her dedication and persistence. She also touched the lives of our Board members, who relied on Manya for guidance and advice. All of us at LV-UC are better for having known her.

In honor of her dedication to adult literacy, LV-UC and the Scotch Plains Library are establishing the Manya S. Ungar Adult Literacy Collection. All monetary donations will be used to provide the Scotch Plains Library with adult literacy and ESL materials in Manya’s name. To learn more please call Elizabeth at (908) 518-0600.
