Literacy Volunteers of Union County will conduct a three part New Tutor Training Workshop at the Plainfield Public Library, located at 800 Park Avenue in Plainfield, Saturday, January 21, 28, February 4 and 11 (snow day), 2012.  The workshop begins promptly at 9:30 am and concludes 2:45 pm.  Attendance is required at all three sessions to be certified as a volunteer tutor.

Requirements to become a tutor are that you be at least 18 years old, be able to speak and read English, and willing to commit to tutoring an hour each week for one year. You do not need prior teaching experience and you do not need to speak a foreign language. 

There is a $40 non refundable registration fee which covers the cost of materials that you will be given at the workshop.  Scholarships are available to qualifying individuals to cover the registration fee and are subject to availability. The registration fee may be paid online when registering, or you may mail a check payable to Literacy Volunteers of Union County, 800 Park Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060.
